Dear Readers,
We are pleased to bring this new version of our Newsletter after a long gap. As this also happens to be the beginning of the New Year, let me wish you and your families a very happy and prosperous new year.
Growth is the name of the game in the industry and any news on expansion or new plants brings good news to the Industry. Year 2010 seems to have brought some good luck to the electronics industry as we hear about the expansion programme of AT&S and plans of new manufacturing facilities by Videocon and LG in south Indian states. By all means Indian electronics industry is poised for a big growth.
As you are aware that our association has been working towards enabling the electronics ecosystems in India for the past 25 years. In the past ten years we have expanded our activities from printed circuit boards to all aspects of electronics encompassing all the activities namely, designing, manufacturing, assembly and training.
We are pleased to announce that we have completed 25 years of service to the industry in India. We have decided to celebrate this 25th year as our silver jubilee year. At this juncture, we take pleasure in inviting all the relevant and leading electronic trade associations, the major contributors to the electronics industry which work for the progress and promotion of our industry also to join with us in all our Silver Jubilee celebrations.
Electronics industry in India has been going through a rough time during the past two years due to global recession. The Electronic Hardware Manufacturing Policies of GOI are not conducive for attracting FDI and big ticket MNC investments and we feel it is now time to join hands and propose reforms for our industry, which will attract foreign investment and also promote local growth.
IPCA has gone through some changes during the past couple years and our logo changed to represent all aspects of electronics industry from design, manufacturing, Assembly to training as I have mentioned above. Our objective is to collaborate with all the stake holders of the industry to provide value to our members. By partnering with IPC, USA we created IATC, the training wing of IPCA for providing training programmes such as IPC 600 G, 610 D, Joint standards JSTD 001 D, 7711/21 etc and this year we are starting some new training programmes like IPC Std 620 on Wire harness etc.,
IPCA is also very actively cooperating with JPCA, Japan for introducing Japan PCB standards and in 2008 we jointly published PCB standards during the IPCA expo. This year we are also celebrating silver jubilee year for IPCA and you can expect number of events from IPCA throughout the year. IPCA is also planning to start PCB testing and certifying facility by jointly collaborating with JPCA, Japan, later this year. This testing facility provides an opportunity for SME companies to get their boards tested and certified by the trained experts. It is also our goal to start a process training facility for operators for PCB manufacturing and assembling processes.
We hope that our members would be taking advantage of all the facilities offered by our association and it is our earnest appeal to all our members to cooperate with us and take part in all the celebration activities that are being planned to make our Silver Jubilee celebration, culminating with our Expo 2010, a grand success this year.
We look forward to your active participation.
With best wishes
M Anil Kumar
