IPCA EXPO 2008 CO HOSTED WITH ELECTRONICINDIA 2008 DURING 2-5 SEPTEMBER 2008 IN BANGALORE INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION COMPLEX

he IPCA Expo 2008 co hosted with electronic India 2008 was a leading trade fair for thepics1 electronic industry and in particular that for the Printed Circuit board industry with the participation of high quality of international and national exhibitors of Printed Circuit boards, allied materials and machinery in the IPCA pavilion of electronicIndia 2008. The separate IPCA pavilion had on the whole 89 stalls on show with 60 exhibitors including 20 international exhibitors actively participating with their products and machinery on display.

The added importance and benefit for the show was the participation of all the leading global Printed circuit Associations from USA, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Europe, Korea and India, being the members of the World Electronic Circuit Council in IPCA Expo with separate stalls for them in the Show.

Electronic India 2008 entered into a strategic partnership with IPCA and the response has been very encouraging. Mr. Anil Kumar, President of IPCA, “I am happy with the format of working together and we are very satisfied with the response of visitors”.

Over all the Show was excellent and beneficial to the progress and betterment of the PCB industrypics2 and its entrepreneurs in our country, with the overall attendance and visitors as recorded by the ElectronicIndia to be around 17000.

ElectronicIndia 2008 was befittingly inaugurated in a specially organised inaugural function, with lighting of the lamps by all the dignitaries from Messe Munschen, Germany and the Chief guest, Mr. Misra, and Mr. Anil Kumar, the President of IPCA.  This ceremony of lighting the lamp was followed by the cutting of the Ribbon at the entrance of the Exhibition hall by all the WECC members and the other dignitaries present and the electronicIndia 2008 was declared open with its 500 exhibitors  on display of electronic components, PCBoards, machinery for manufacture and assembly.

The highlights of IPCA Expo:

WECC Meeting: 2nd September 2008

For the first time in the annals of the history of Indian Printed circuit Association we have hosted thewecc 14th international World Electronic Circuits council Annual meeting in the premises of the conference hall of BIEC with the cent percent attendance of all its members represented by the respective global Circuit Associations’ Presidents, vice Presidents and Secretary Generals. It provided an opportunity for the Indian PCB industry to establish a close networking with the international community of PCB industrialists. All the WECC members present in the WECC annual meeting gave presentations on the PCB industry scenario of each country they are representing, with the details of their production output and the futuristic demand of printed circuit boards in each country. The data presented has given the Indian PCB industry an impetus to go head and to work on further development of our indigenous industry to update its infrastructure and technology to become one of the competent suppliers of quality Printed circuits boards of bulk volume at the global level. Also The WECC council meeting has chalked out an Working Plan to work in lose liaison with all its sister organisations for developing the design, technology of manufacture, assembly and promotion of the resultant business to the individual interests of each and every one of its members.

Apart from the technical deliberations of the Council meeting, it has taken the opportunity towecc felicitate its outgoing Secretary General Mr. David Bergman of IPC, USA for having been the  FIRST Secretary General of WECC and to have steered its activities through, to pave way for the global development and interaction among the global PCB experts and industrialists. On behalf of WECC members present, the President of IPCA, the hosting Chairman of WECC Meeting in India and the new Secretary General Mr. Kevin Yan of CPCA have presented Mr. David Bergman, the outgoing Secretary General, WECC with a memento as a token of its gratitude to honour him for the excellent services rendered by him for the past ten years from the year 1998.


EDCI Electronic Designers Council of India, a  technical wing of IPCA had its fourthpic Training course on design of PCBs for about 38 candidates from various design houses widely represented from all the parts of the country, in the premises of the IPCA Expo pavilion itself. Mr. William Gilman the expert instructor from IPC, USA has conducted the course for three days from 2-4 concluding with special lectures on Design of PCBs on the 5th of September organised as Designers’ Day. This training course has been a successful annual feature of EDCI, under the auspices of IPCA especially meant for catering to the demanding requirements of standards for designing of intricate printed circuit Boards.

IATC Industry Association Training Centre of IPCA  has organised one more training course on the IPCtraining specification IPC 610D, the assembly criteria, requirements and acceptability of mounted Printed Circuit Boards, subsequently during 8-11 of September, 2008, as one of the technical activities of IPCA Expo 2008 apart from the exhibition conducted.  With the first batch of training five candidates successfully for IPC 600 G course started in M/s Circuits systems in the month of October 2007, so far IATC has trained and issued certificates of Certified IPC Specialists for 41 IPC 610 D candidates and  17 candidates for IPC 600 G, who had successfully undergone the courses.
